Air Fried Yorkshire pudding

I’m sure any Yorkshire natives might not like to hear it but you can indeed make the British classic Yorkshire puddings in an air fryer! This can be really handy when you need to free up some space in your oven when cooking a roast dinner with all the trimmings. In fact, the compact air fryer is perfectly suited to cook Yorkshire puddings. Here’s my simple recipe for air fryer Yorkshire puddings which will make any roast dinner feel complete. This golden puffy pudding makes the perfect side dish for roast chicken, beef, pork or lamb.

Serves 4
Prep time 5 minutes
Cooking time 12 minutes

Essential kit
You will need an air fryer, mixing bowl, electric hand whisk and oven proof dish that fits comfortably into your air fryer drawer

Ingredients

X2 eggs
115ml of full fat milk
115g of plain flour
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
Pinch of salt

Method

Started by sifting the flour into a large mixing bowl then crack in your eggs and add in your milk. Using an electric hand whisk, combine the ingredients until the mixture is smooth. It definitely helps if you let your Yorkshire pudding batter rest for 30 minutes or more to help them rise fully when cooking. But it is not essential. Placed your oven proof dish into the air fryer draw and add the vegetable oil. Then close the door and pre-heated on 190c for a couple of minutes. Once the air fryer is hot, add in your Yorkshire pudding mix to the dish in the air fryer drawer and cook on 190c for 10 to 12 minutes.
Serve hot with your favourite roast dinner. Yorkshire puddings can be made well in advance and reheated for about five minutes. Cooked Yorkshire puddings can also be frozen and then cooked from frozen in about 7 minutes.

This Yorkshire pudding would go perfectly with my air fried pork shoulder that I cooked on the Channel 5 TV show AIR FRYERS: SUNDAY LUNCH MADE EASY, or with my slow cooked whole chicken in cider taken from my second book The Ultimate Slow Cooker Cookbook.
